Thanksgiving is right around the corner and Christmas will be here before you know it. It might feel impossible to find the time to get (and keep) your house in order before the seemingly never-ending parade of family and friends begins. Never fear, Casali is here… with a super helpful house cleaning checklist that will have you breezing through daily cleaning tasks so you can focus on what matters this holiday season: family.
This house cleaning checklist will help keep your house in order so you don’t feel overwhelmed once it’s time for the holiday festivities.
Bedrooms
1. Make the Bed
If you make the bed as soon as you wake up each morning, this task usually only takes a few minutes, and you’re done!
2. Pick Up and Put Away Clothes
Clear the floor of any discarded dirty clothes and hang up or fold any clean items left out. An accessible clothes hamper will make it easier to put dirty clothes away when you take them off.
3. Clear Clutter off Surface Areas
Tidy bedside tables and dressers by clearing clutter, straightening books, and organizing accessories.
Once a week, wipe down surfaces with an appropriate cleaner and sweep or vacuum the floors.
Bathrooms
4. Clear Countertop Clutter
Put toothbrushes back in their holders and the toothpaste and other toiletries back where they belong.
5. Wipe Down Countertops
Once surface areas are decluttered, take a wet washcloth or paper towel and wipe them down.
6. Hang Up Towels
Wet towels left on the ground will develop mold and mildew, leading to unpleasant smells and even stains on the towels.
Once a week, sweep and mop the bathroom floors and throw bathmats in the wash while you give the tub and shower a quick scrub with disinfectant.
Living Areas
7. Tidy Up the Couches
Fold blankets and fluff up throw pillows as well as the couch cushions to get the couch looking fresh again.
8. Pick Up Clutter and Toys
Put toys, books, and any extra items back where they belong to clear surface areas of clutter.
Once a week, take a Swiffer duster to remove dust and pet dander from surface areas. If it’s been a while, you may want to run them over the blades of ceiling fans, too!
Kitchen
9. Put Away Dishes
Unload and reload the dishwasher with dirty dishes from the sink and around the house. Wipe out the sink with a sponge or wet paper towel when finished.
10. Tidy Up Clutter
Put up any appliances that don’t belong on the countertop and re-home items that don’t belong in the kitchen. Fold and re-hang dish towels.
11. Wipe Down Counters and Stovetop
Use a sponge with an all-purpose disinfecting cleaner to wipe up spills and clean surfaces.
12. Clean Messy Spots on the Floor
Using the all-purpose cleaner, wipe up spills or sticky areas on the floor and sweep any crumbs with a dustpan.
Once a week, sweep and mop the kitchen after giving all surface areas a good scrubbing with disinfectant.
