If you have kids in the home or people with compromised immune systems, having harsh, toxic cleaning chemicals in the house isn’t ideal. Even if residential cleaners like Casali Cleaning Services come in regularly, it’s still good to have cleaning products on hand for spills and general maintenance. Luckily there are several all-natural cleaning supplies that not only smell great but are also quite effective.

Dish Soap

To make all-natural dish soap, you only need castile soap and water. Castile soap is a highly versatile, all-natural cleaning product originally made out of olive oil and sodium carbonate, but today other oils like coconut, hemp, and avocado are also used to make it. For dish soap, combine one castile soap with ten parts water. You can also add castile soap to the all-purpose cleaner you make next to make it an “extra strength” cleaner for tough messes!

All-Purpose Cleaner

Combine equal parts vinegar with water for an all-purpose cleaner you can use in the kitchen or bathroom. While the vinegar smell won’t linger, you can infuse a pleasant scent into the solution by adding a few lemon peels and letting it sit for a few weeks. Just be sure to remove the rinds before using it. You can also substitute essential oils to improve the scent.

Glass Cleaner

You can also make a super easy DIY glass cleaner with water and vinegar, just not with equal parts. For your glass cleaner, use one cup of water and ¼ cup of vinegar. Add essential oils or lemon peels to improve the scent and two tablespoons of rubbing alcohol to get the solution to dry faster.

Wood Cleaner

You can make an effective DIY wood cleaner/polish by combining ¾ cup of olive oil with ½ cup of white vinegar and one tablespoon of lemon juice. The olive oil helps polish and protect wood surfaces.

Stain Remover

If you need a DIY stain remover, combine ¼ cup of vinegar with ¼ cup of baking soda and one tablespoon of castile soap before shaking it all together with two cups of water in a spray bottle. Simply spray the solution directly on a stain and let it sit for at least 15 minutes before tossing it in the wash or scrubbing it with an upholstery brush.

Harsh chemicals aren’t necessary for a clean home. There are tons of all-natural cleaning supplies out there for you and your family to try. Hopefully, these we’ve shared will get you through until your next cleaning with Casali!
